Christmas on Ebeye

Christmas on Ebeye
Well as many of you know this year Shawn and the boys were in the states for the holidays. I was here in the islands continuing to run with the mission here. While they were gone the school continued to run and everything stayed on track. On December 19th we had the school Christmas party and the next day I was on the plane to the islands of Ebeye.
Even though there are no airplanes going to the outer islands now Continental has service into Ebeye. So I was on my way. For the next six days I stayed with Pastor Anwi Morris and his family. I had a great time with them. He is the pastor of the Full Gospel church. This church is literally exploding. They are seeing a mighty move of the Spirit and people are coming to the Lord every Sunday.
For the next few days as I lived with them I got to see what goes on up close in preparation for Christmas. Just to let you know, the Marshallese do not just celebrate Christmas on one day, they celebrate it all month long. It is not about shopping and buying things it is about celebrating the birth of Jesus.
So they begin the month with Gospel day where they celebrate the Gospel coming to the Marshall Islands. Isn’t it something that they celebrate the day that the first missionaries brought them the news of Jesus. Praise the Lord that a nation remembers when the Gospel came to them. So after that day every Sunday is filled with programs and everyday of the week the groups are getting together practicing for Christmas day.
Then on Christmas Eve the cooking begins and goes all night long until Christmas morning. They all then go home and get a couple of hours sleep. At ten o’clock on Christmas morning we got started. We had an awesome worship service and preached the Word of God. After that we had lunch together and then the programs began. For the next 18 hours we would worship the Lord together. Finally on 26 December at 4 AM we finished. What a time of celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Even though I was separated by thousands of miles from my family I had a great Christmas with the Marshallese. Together we lifted up the name of Jesus and gave Him all of the glory that only He deserves on that day. I will finish this post with something I shared that day. Everyday is Christmas for the people of God. Everyday we have the gift of life and as we walk by faith God the Father meets all of our needs. He is still giving to us in so many ways. Everyday we have something we can give to the world. We have the Gospel of Jesus that can change lives and set people free. Everyday we can give the gift of Jesus to someone. Everyday is a good day to give that free gift of life.
Be blessed.

Special Force Update

Sometime ago I wrote about a singing group that had named themselves the Special Force for Christ. Now it has become so much more. It has now started meeting at 5 AM every morning just to pray for Ebeye and the Marshall Islands. It started out originally with just six members now it is up to 45 and growing.
Praise the Lord! Not only are they singing for Jesus they are calling on the name of the Lord to move by His Spirit and they are seeing results in their lives and the lives of others. As they sang on Christmas they pointed out that nothing can stop the church and that they are on a mission from God. A mission to bring His Spirit down to change people’s lives.
Since this group started out of it started another group called Overcomers for Christ. This group of 40 people also meet every morning at 5 AM to pray. They pray down at the docks. Last week in one of their meeting a man was watching them pray. In the middle of the time of prayer he walked up and said I want to give my life to Jesus. Praise God, no preaching was going on just the people of God praying and seeking Him. God is moving by His Spirit on Ebeye and walls are falling down.
On another note, one of the original members of Special Force has went on to be with the Lord. Praise God he knew Jesus and now he is home. This was a man who by the witness of his family and the church came to the Lord. He was a very bad man here but after he was saved he was a light for Jesus. While we miss him, we rejoice in the fact that he is with the Lord. What started with three women praying for their lost husbands and believing God has grown to mighty prayer teams on the atoll of Ebeye. Prayer changes things! Only Believe!

Project updates

Seawall and Projects Update
We have many things going on here in the islands. One of them is the need for a seawall. As you can see from the pictures we are continuing to lose ground to the ocean. Please believe God with us for the provision to build the seawall to protect what God has given us. We know that He can provide exactly what we need and that He is always on time.
The power costs here continue to climb. We have a 40 kilowatt ship’s generator that is ready to go. We just need to build a building and then we can put it on line. This will keep the ministry operating even with all of the power outages. It will also offset our power bills because we will be able to operate it using coconut oil. We are also raising funds for the last engine for the Pointman (the ministry boat) She is prepped and ready for service and we have enough funds for all but the last engine.
These are our top projects right now. If you are interested in helping out in any of these areas please contact us a Rikakisteve@gmail.com
Be blessed in all that you do and may you prosper even as your soul prospers.

Happy Holidays

Moving Forward with the Kingdom!

Happy Holidays to you all. I just wanted to give you all an update on things happening here in the islands. Shawn and the boys are now in Florida for the holidays. They are spending time with family and friends getting refreshed. While they are gone the ministry is still moving forward.
The school is on track and running smoothly. We continue to have favor with the people and the government. It is awesome to see God move here in the islands. This weekend we are so thankful for everything that God has done in our lives. We are especially grateful for being sent here to the Marshall Islands to minister to the people. We are also thankful for you our supporters who are partnering with us to spread the Gospel throughout the pacific.
2007 certainly has been a wonderful year but we know that 2008 will be great. God is continually opening up new doors for ministry here in the islands. We are now in the final phase of establishing our radio ministry and have partnered with the United Christian Broadcasters out of New Zealand. We are already planning on future training events.
We also have many projects in the works that we are believing God for. We need to build a generator room for our backup generator. We also need to build a sea wall, this is a major need right now. Land is precious here in the islands and we are losing some of it to the sea. We are also in the final stages of our boat project to support outer island pastors. We are waiting on the final funds to come in to complete the project. If you would like to help out in any of our projects please contact us (rikakisteve@gmail.com)
Even with the projects we have going on we continue to see God move in so many ways. Over and over again we have seen God come through for us. Today I would like to ask you, do you know someone who would like to know about what we are doing here in the islands? I receive many forwarded emails here in the islands from people all around the world. I would like to ask you, forward our links to other Christians who will partner with us in prayer and support. As our vision grows so does our need for provision but we are so happy that where there is vision there is provision. God will always make the vision happen. We are always looking forward to the next step that God would have us take. Be blessed and have a great holiday weekend.

Sea wall Status

Here is a couple of pictures of part of the area that needs the sea wall. The first picture on the left is one of our antenna support base that was eroding away. Our maintenance man Thor and Travis were able to build a patch for this area. Right now the cable is stable but this is a temporary patch. We recieved the estimate this week for what it will take to build the sea wall. It is a 300 foot wall and materials will cost 10,000 dollars to purchase. We have the man power to do the work now it is time to believe God. Please pray and agree with us for the finance to complete this project. Be blessed and have an awesome day in Jesus.

Ebeye and Langnaar Churches

Here are pictures of the churches at Ebeye and Langnaar. On the left is Pastor Anwi Morris and his family. They are the pastors on Ebeye a picture of their church is above them. On the right in the hat is Pastor Norton Bikajle. He is the pastor on Langnaar. His church is pictured above him. Please keep all of the pastors in your prayers here in the Marshall Islands.

Another Graduate from CTC

Here are some pictures of another man of God. Pastor Norton Bikajle. Friday night we celebrated his graduation from CTC. All four of the churches here on Majuro came together to celebrate with him and his family. When we went to Langnaar we picked up Pastor Norton and his family.
Pastor Norton started under Dr. Lew Davis. He is another awesome man of God and is already pastoring in Langnaar. Please keep Pastor Norton and his family in your prayers as he ministers in Langnaar. The outer islands are a tough life but we know that our God is more than able to take care of His own.

Trips to the Outer Islands

In the last couple of weeks we have been to Ebeye and Langnaar. Wow, God is moving. On Ebeye the church has grown so much that it is packed on Sunday morning. Sunday nights even more people are coming, they have to have church outside. During the night service many people came and stood in the back hearing the Gospel. God moved by His Spirit that night. It started to rain, pouring down, but even in the rain as we continued to preach no one moved. They sat in the rain to hear the Gospel. What hunger and desire to hear the Word of God. Please lift up this church in your prayers as they start a new building project. The sea wall around their current church is failing and needs to be repair. They have been given the land next to the building to build a new church. As they continue to preach the Gospel we know that God will meet all of their needs.
On Langnaar they have also started to rebuild their church not with concrete or bricks but by weaving together the walls and the roof. Building is by hand and believing God for concrete so that they can finish a concrete floor. There is new pastor there now. His name is Norton Bikajle. He is a graduate of CTC and is the new pastor. People from all over the atoll are coming to hear the Gospel preached.
Both of these pastors are preaching the Gospel and seeing lives changed for Jesus. No multi media or anything fancy just the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. When we went to Langnaar the boat was loaded with supplies. This is the same boat that we planted there in July. The people of Langnaar had ran out of food. The boat we were on took much needed supplies to the people there. Earlier that week the boat had been used to take a woman to the hospital on Majuro! This boat is making a huge difference in many lives there. We give God all of the glory an praise for what he is doing in the islands. If you would like to help our in any area of ministry, please email us at rikakisteve@gmail.com
Be blessed.

Radio Training

Here are some pictures of our new radio hosts here at the station. Ryan, Harold, Dickner and Diane are our hosts in training. During the time that Andrew was here he trained our hosts in many areas. How to use the computers, interviewing, audio editing and the basics of running a Christian radio station. It was awesome to see these four come together as a team and learn. They are all a gift from God and we look forward to seeing how God will use them in the area of radio.
Part of what Andrew is doing was seeing what we had in the area of equipment. We are in the process of establishing a partnership with United Christian Broadcasters Pacific Partners (www.pacificpartners.org/mainmenu). Their vision is to help establish radio here in the Pacific. Andrew on there behalf was here to see what was happening in the Marshalls.
Go by and check out what they are doing here in the pacific and add them to your prayer list. They are helping to spread the Gospel throughout the pacific. We are excited about the possibilities of working with them. As you can tell our vision is expanding here in the Pacific. We see God moving in many ways as our ministry expands into new areas everyday. Thanks for all of your prayers. It you would like to help in the area of radio please email us. Be blessed.

Great Things are Happening

We have had an awesome two weeks here in the Marshall Islands. Andrew Marriott from Missionary Ventures New Zealand came in for a visit. He is originally from the UK but he and his family have moved to New Zealand to start the office there. His wife Margaret and son Ben could not come with him this time but we look forward to them coming to the Marshalls with him on the next trip. While here he trained our new radio hosts and got our radio studio up and running. He also traveled with me to Ebeye and Langnaar to visit the churches there. We had the privilege of showing him the outer islands and what God is doing there. We look forward to seeing him again here in the Marshall Islands with his family. Andrew, komol tata may God be with you and your family in all that you do.

Graduation Dinner

Last night was an awesome night. We celebrated with our former student Tony Tiareta his completion of the Christian Training Center Curriculum. He and one other student Norton Bikajle have completed the entire course. It took three years for Tony to finish but last night we had a dinner and celebrated with his family and friends. Many pastors from Majuro came to celebrate this time with Tony. Tony is also already pastoring a small church here in Majuro for the Kiribati people.
Tony is a true man of God and a blessing to the body of Christ. Norton could not be there last night because he is already a pastor on the outer islands. We will have another celebration dinner with him next week and honor him also.
As we continue to train men and women of God here in the islands. We need more staff. Not only do we need an administator for our ministry by we need teachers. Our ministry is expanding at an unbelievable rate. Praise God, growth and change is good. Please pray as Jesus directed us to pray. He did not tell us to pray for the harvest but to pray for the laborers to enter into the field of the Lord. Join us in agreement as we believe God for more laborers to come here to the Marshalls and to the pacific to help us in the field of the Lord.
Be Blessed and have an awesome day in Jesus,

School is going on!

The school year is flying by. We have 55 full time students and they are doing well. There are little ups and downs but kids will be kids. God has certainly blessed us in giving us the opportunity to impact young lives. This year we have add lunches. For two dollars a day the students get a balanced meal. In many cases this is the best meal they have all day long. Our cook Boata, she is from Kiribati, takes care of this for us. In the process it blesses her family. She is a single mother with two children that attend our school. They are able to come because an unsaved family paid for their tuition this year so that they could come. Praise the Lord! He works in so many ways.
I also wanted to make you aware that we have four single mothers sending children to school. All broken families. Some are barely making ends meet but because they want their children to attend a Christian school and get a good education they are making it happen. Some of these children do not have money for lunch and usually share with others. It takes all the mother can to make sure they are in school. Would you like to help in this area? With tuition or lunches? If you would like to bless a child here in the islands drop us an email. We not believing for the entire school just for four mothers who want the best for their children. You know, we have prayed and we believe that God will meet the needs of these four families. We continue to share the Gospel with the lost and thank Him everyday for the provision to do it. Believe me everyone eats at our school everyday in the natural and in the Spiritual. Be Blessed.
Yours in His Service,
Steve, Shawn and the boys

Erosion

Well here are some pictures of the beach area near the school. We have start to have an erosion problem and we are losing ground. We have been having alot of high tides lately which is causing this. The picture to the right shows one of our tower support bases that is being impacted by the erosion. We are now in the process of getting estimates on what it will cost for material to build the sea wall. We have a mason and a group of chrisitian men from Fiji who will do the work. Of course we will bless them and their church for helping us build the wall. We need your prayers for wisdom, favor and provision to accomplish this mission. Be blessed in all that you do. If you would like to help out in this project, please email us. This problem has shifted our priorities on construction. Land is very precious here and we can not afford to lose and inch. Be blessed and our God is more than able and will provide what we need to finish the work.

Another Church is Born!!!

Good news. A new church has been started on the Atoll of Tinoc. This is the atoll that is across from Langnaar. Since the arrival of the new boat there teams have been going over and sharing the Gospel. Lives have been changed and the Holy Ghost moved. Now those people want a church there. This week a team from the Full Gospel Churches went over to look for a piece of land. They have a pastor ready to go. His name is Hermann Napking, one of Dr. Lew Davis's students. Praise the Lord. God is so good. Because of the gift of this tool, people are being reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We give God all of the glory and honor this morning for what He is doing in the Marshall Islands.

Standing Up For The Gospel

Well good day from the islands. I am a little behind on this post but here is some breaking news. As many of you know Muslims have been trying to establish a mosque here in the Marshall Islands. They have been for months advertising that they are a religion of peace of love for everyone. As we well know this is not the truth. At one time someone wrote a letter to the paper explaining some of the differences in Christians and Muslims. Unfortunately it was not published because the person did not sign the letter. They condemned the person for not saying who they were. The next week I sent a letter in and signed it. It was published, and many people’s eyes were open.
Since then along with exposing false doctrine here in the Marshalls I have been discussing what Islam really is and the danger of it. I not only talked about the violent side of Islam but I also exposed it’s goal of establishing Islam around the world. It has been on going and I have been very vocal and have not kept silent.
That is the danger, not speaking out. We know that it is time the people of God to stand for what they believe. The church for too long has been silent on major issues around the world. Why, because we want to be politically correct, well guess what? I am not politically correct and I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ and what the Word of God teaches. As long as I have breath I will protect the people that God has sent us to minister to. We will continue to expose false doctrine and the spirit of antichrist whenever we are given the opportunity.
Well, last week we were called to speak before the government of the Marshall Islands. Specifically their equivalent of a congressional committee to change the constitution and it’s definition of the term freedom of religion. The Marshall’s government, constitution and bill of rights are all based on Christian principles. Just the same as the United States was setup. However in the case of the Marshalls they have identified a threat and are willing to take measures against it.
Before that meeting of the committee and senators I was given the opportunity to talk about Islam and Christianity. I exposed the threats, not only to national security but also the threat to their very souls. I had a tremendous opportunity to share the Gospel and take a stand against another false religion trying to come into the Marshalls. We give God all of the Glory for the opportunity to stand up for Him.
Other senators (Christian) stood with me and also stated that they had already let in two false religions into the islands and named them (Mormons and Ba’Hai). This too was also a very bold move on the part of these senators. Needless to say we are now beginning to see satan’s opposition to the Gospel in this area. However we just laugh at him. Because the Bible says “no weapon formed against me shall prosper”. Please continue to pray for us as we bring light to the lost and to the people of God. We covet your prayers. May God bless you in all that you put your hand to.
Ephesians 6:18-19 (KJV) 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Boat is almost ready.

Our team here has continually been working on the boat. I just wanted to post a couple of before and after shots so that you can see the progress. With the air assets being the way they are now we will be using the Pointman to bring supplies to the people in the outer islands.

Praise and Prayer

Good morning,
It is a beautiful day here in the Marshall Islands and another day to see what the Spirit of God will do. This morning we want to give him all of the praise and glory for what He is doing in the Pacific. As some of you already know we are going to get domestic postal rates back here in the islands. Praise the Lord. That means we will once again have US rates and be able to track and insure our mail. That is an awesome answer to prayer.
We want to give Him praise also for moving by His Spirit here in the islands. Since the general conference we have seen Him move more and more in the area of the Spirit. There is a new hunger to be filled with the Spirit and to speak/pray in other tongues. God is doing mighty things around the world.
Some things to keep in prayer this morning. The local air service here is completely down. That means no flights to the outer islands. Everything is depending on ship/boat now. It is taking a real toll on our outer island pastors and the people. Please keep this area lifted up in prayer. The Pointman is almost ready to go. As soon as it is ready we will start taking supplies to the outer islands. Please continue to pray with us for our ministry to the outer islands.
The radio ministry is coming along quickly. We are now hooking up with United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) Pacific Partners in this area. We are still in need of a broadcast engineer to come and help us with some technical issues on two different FM stations. Please keep this in prayer and agree with us for this need. If you would like to help in any of these areas please contact us. We would love to hear from you. Be blessed in all that you do and thank you for all of your prayers and support.
