Merry Christmas!

Good day from the Marshall Islands. Shawn, Richard and I would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas. It is a wonderful time of year to celebrate the birth of Jesus! Truly He is the greatest gift every given to the world. The birthday of the King who came to give Himself so that we may be redeemed. Praise The Lord! I am writing this post the day after Christmas for us here in the Pacific. This entire month has been one continuous celebration of the goodness of God!

The first Sunday of December here in the Marshall Islands we celebrate, Gospel Day. It is a national holiday for the coming of the good news to the islands. It is also called by some thanksgiving day similar to our Thanksgiving holiday in the states. However, they are celebrating the greatest gift ever given. The gift of the good news of the coming of Jesus. The last two weeks of November all the way up to Christmas Day music can be heard everywhere at night. Groups all over are practicing their programs for Christmas day.

Starting Christmas morning churches gather and groups travel all over Majuro. Dancing, singing and celebrating Jesus. It lasts all day and all night with many churches ending early in the morning on the 26th. It is one continual birthday party for Jesus. Glory to God! It is so awesome to watch the people celebrating Jesus without fear of persecution or backlash. Everywhere you go people say Merry Christmas and you know what? They know what Christmas is all about! It is about Jesus. Not about gifts or food it is about the coming of Jesus! Praise the Lord!

At our church Majuro International English Church, (MIEC), we do things a little different on Christmas day. This year we gathered at 10 am at the church and from there we went to the hospital and to the prison. We sang and prayed for the sick and gave gifts to those in prison. It is always a blessing to see eyes light up that seem to have no hope. After that we returned to the church and packed up boxes of food and gifts. From there we went out to our neighbors around the church and blessed twenty families. Glory to God! We finished up this year around 3 in the afternoon.

It was an awesome Christmas. So today as you celebrate Christmas we want to thank you for your prayers and support. Because you are our partners in the Gospel here in the islands. Remember, everyday is Christmas. Everyday you can give someone the gift of eternal life. Step out and show His love to the world today. May you prosper in all that you do in the might name of Jesus. God bless and good night from the islands of the sea.

Coming and Going!

Well it has been a busy couple of weeks and we are headed toward Christmas. The last couple of weeks certainly has been a whirlwind. As many of you know, Shawn, has been away for 12 weeks for medical treatment and rest. She returned yesterday after an overnight delay in Honolulu. We thank God for her return and for all of your prayers during this time. It is tough being separated but we thank God for His grace and provision during our separation. Please keep us in your prayers as we head into the Christmas season. We have several events and outreaches planned leading up to Christmas Day. Tomorrow we will celebrate Thanksgiving and the coming of the Gospel to the Marshall Islands. It will be a day of praise, worship, the Word and dinner together celebrating the goodness of God!

We are happy to let everyone know that we have a new member to our ministry. Brother Aravapo Leo from Papua New Guinea has joined us here in Majuro. His father, mother and sister were with us before in ministry at the church. Brother Apo has returned and has already jumped right in. He is not only talented in ministry and worship he is also and artist. He is using this talent downtown reaching out to the Marshallese using art to share the Gospel. Please keep him in your prayers as well.

So we had two come back but we also are seeing one leave. Our precious sister, Jessica Cahiago will be leaving us in the next couple of weeks. She was one of our children's ministers at the church. We will miss her but know that she is following the plan of God. Please keep her in your prayers as she returns to the Philippines for a new adventure in life!

On another note, I will be making a trip back to the states in January. I will leave here on the 12th of January and plan to be there for a month. The ticket price is 1838.00. We already have 1000 committed to the trip. If you would like help out on this trip please contact us at rikakisteve@gmail.com. We have to overnight in Honolulu on both legs of our trip. Please pray about helping us out in this area. Please keep up with our blog and we will soon be anouncing our new web site. We hope to have it online in the next couple of weeks. Shawn and I want to thank all of your for your faithful prayers and support. You are truly our partners in the Gospel. God bless you and have a awesome day in the name of Jesus.
