Celebrating Christmas!

Good day from Majuro, Marshall Islands.  I hope that your Christmas has been an awesome time celebrating Jesus and family.  As many of you know Shawn and Richard are in the states for the holidays.  Shawn traveled back to be with Malissa and Travis for the birth of their daughter Tatianna! Hopefully I spelled it right.  She was born on the 21st of December so needless to say she was the best Christmas present of all this year.

As for me here in the islands it was a great time as well.  On Christmas eve our church, Majuro International English Church, (MIEC), had our Christmas eve service.  It was filled with joy and songs.  Our children's department did an awesome job with their program.  It was wonderful to see them share Jesus with family and friends.  There were other songs as well and a big thank you to all who participated.

Even our neighbors came and sang for the church as well.  Glory to God.  A big thank you to sister Lavini, sister Janet and all of those who had a part making it an awesome night.

Christmas day members of the church met at the hospital to start our day.
We went into the children's ward and the new born area singing carols and praying for the mother's, families and children.  We also blessed all of them with Christmas goodies.  Afterwards we went to the jail were we sang to the men, blessed them with gifts and prayed for them.  They were so happy to have someone come there on Christmas to share Jesus with them.  We look forward to new opportunities of ministering there in 2016.

Finally, we head back to the church.  There we put together 30 baskets of food for the families of our children who attend the church.  From there we went to 30 houses in the name of Jesus blessing the families.
It is so awesome to be able to bless others on Christmas day.  That is what it is all about.  We have found, as the word says in Romans, that it is the goodness of God that lead men to repentance.  As we continue to share the love of God with others we will reap a harvest.

I hope that your Christmas was as awesome as ours.
What a blessing to serve the Lord here in the Marshall Islands.  Of course a big thank you to all of MIEC who were part of blessing others this year.

God bless you and may you new year be filled with Jesus.  Thank you for your faithful prayers and support.

The Blessings!

Good day from the islands.  As many of you know a couple posts ago I let you all know about the blessings that the Lord had sent our way.  Well Shawn has received the first part of the blessing and I think it is best to let her share it in her own words.  This is from her post on Facebook!

On November 11th, I received this letter. Hi Shawn, how are you doing. I know Don talks with Steve more often than you and I but you are in my heart and in my prayers often. When I got to my office this morning there was an envelope over my desk from our friends and donors in Alaska. The card inside so touched my heart that I began to weep when I read it. It says the following: Enclosed are two checks for a combined total of 25K. The amounts from each company are being donated to Wings of Eagles Int. to help the ministry located in the Marshall Islands. The following words came to me relating to this donation,"This Money is for the Kings' Daughter's New Car", along with the scripture in Eph 3:14-21. I hope that means something to the wife of your friend. Clearly The Lord has immeasurable love for both, her and her husband. We really sensed The Lord's direction on this donation and specifically as it related to her.
I could not hold my tears for I know you both, your love for the people and the price you are paying in the Marshall Islands. I have been praying for Steve, you and your children. Eph. 3:14-21 is a reminder of His Majesty, His faithfulness and HIs love for you both. Yes, The Lord has immeasurable love for both of you!
Alls I could do was cry when I got this letter. I thought I would never own my own car again since coming on the mission field. I praise God that He blesses us with our desires as well as our needs.
Thank you, Lord, for lavishing me with this wonderful gift. I want to give thanks to the couple who generously gave money to purchase this blessing for Steve and I.

Glory to God!  I want to let you all know again that this is a couple that we do not know!  They were moved on their heart to do something and just followed the Spirit!  Thank you Jesus.  Just to give you a further update, I was notified today that the new bus for the school will arrive the end of January 2016.  The batteries and equipment to bring our alternate power back fully online is on the way.  There will be further updates as things arrive here in the islands.  Once again we thank all of your for your faithful prayers and support.  God always answers our prayers and is always on time.  God bless you and may you prosper even as your soul prospers!

Trip to Tonga!

Good day from the islands.  Last Saturday I returned from my trip to Tonga!  Let me tell you about my trip!   I left here on Sunday the 15th of November and arrived in Nadi, Fiji.  I was there Sunday night, Monday and flew out Tuesday for Tonga.  On Monday I stayed in the town of Lautoka with Mue and Lavini Metusela's family.  On Monday night I was honored to share the Word with the family and their cell group.  We also dedicated the home to the Lord as well! What a priviledge to share the word with the family on my way to Tonga!

On Tuesday we flew to Tonga.  There I was met by Theresa Llorente who is with, Children's Evangelism Fellowship.  If you remember from one of our earlier posts it was Theresa and here her co worker Chona who came and did training here in Majuro.

During my stay in Tonga she provided me with a place to stay and everything I needed while I was there.  What a blessing!  Theresa has been in Tonga for twenty two years sharing the good news with children and teaching others how to do it.  She has started Good News clubs everywhere.  Praise the Lord!

Wednesday we attended a Kindergarden graduation in Kalonga!  Much to my surprise I became part of the celebration handing out gifts and speaking to the children.  It was such blessing to me.  As you know Shawn and I have a big heart when it comes to children.  Afterwards we joined in with the families for the feast (celebration), ending the school year.  Awesome time!

On Thursday we met with Brother Willy Florian who runs 93 FM christian radio in Tonga.  We did an interview with him for the station.  What a blessing!  Brother Willy is a part of so many things in Tonga as well as having 4 discipleship groups each week.  He is not only reaching via radio he is also reaching people with the Gospel one on one!  Glory to God!

Friday afternoon we got to be a part of the Scripture Union's meeting at Tonga High School.  This a group of young people that meet in all the high schools every Friday to share the word and pray.  As a matter of fact they just celebrated 50 years of doing this.  Glory to God!  On Saturday we were with sister Lavini's family.  We got to the share the word with them and dedicate the home to the Lord!  It is always a priviledge to share the Word and to meet the families of those in our church here in Majuro.  God is so good!

Sunday with visited the Equippers church in Tonga and met with Brother Vae's Uncle who is the pastor of the church.  Afterwards we had lunch together.  Great time as well.  Sunday night we shared with the Sister Theresa's group, the english assembly.  It reminded me of our church in Majuro.  I so enjoyed meeting all of them.

Afterwards I was picked up by Brother Willy and it was off to one of his discipleship groups.  This group has been going for two years now.  It was wonderful to hear and see what God is doing in that group.  It is a true example of the New Testament church.  Making disciples, one on one, from house to house!  Overall what can I say?  I am blessed!

Last but not least I want to mention Zack Woolwine and his family.  He is the Youth for Christ coordinator in Tonga.  I had a several reasons for going to Tonga and one of them was to meet Zack.  Zack is an on fire disciple maker sharing the love of Christ with everyone he meets.  He and his family have been in Tonga for five years sharing the Gospel and making disciples.  I wanted to meet him and see what he was doing there.  Zack made time in his schedule which is really busy to meet with me.  I was able to see first hand what he is doing.  Needless to say I came away with new tools and ideas to support our vision here in Majuro.

On Tuesday I flew back to Nadi, Fiji and then up to Suva, Fiji where I was able to rest before coming back to Majuro.  There I was able to stay with Brother Divine Waiti who is part of our church in Majuro who was there working on business.  We were able to spend time together sharing about the good things of God.  Needless to say the trip was a huge success!  I am so blessed and stirred up by what I saw and was a part of!

I met so many people and there are so many to thank.  Needless to say to those who I did not mention thank you for everything.  I would like all of you to pray for Tonga,  Theresa, Brother Willy and family and also Brother Zack and his family as well.  I do not give out contact information but if you would like to support any of these ministries in Tonga contact me and I will connect you with them!

Thank you all for your faithful prayers and support.  It is such an honor to serve the Lord here in the Marshalls and in the Pacific!  God bless and have a great day..

He is Always on Time!

Good day from the islands.  Just reflecting on God's timing this morning and how it is always perfect.  One of my favorite scriptures is Matthew 6:33.

Matthew 6:33: But make His Kingdom and righteousness your chief aim, and then these things shall all be given you in addition. (Weymouth Translation)

I really like this translation!  Everything we do should be centered on His Kingdom and His righteous.  When we are doing that, those, "things", that we need are added.  Certainly Shawn and I strive to live with this in mind.  Of course like everyone else we have missed it many times.  All of us need to keep our focus on the Kingdom and Kingdom life.

Over the years we have learned to trust God is every area of life.  The life of faith is a challenge but in the end we win.  Praise the Lord!  As many of you know we have been believing God for a new bus for the school.  Our bus has served us faithfully but it getting close to the end of its life.  The other need that we had was to replace our wind generator and batteries for our power needs.  We gave these needs to God and continued on with ministry.

In March it was suggested that we put in for a grant for the buses.  We went through the process and left it up to God.  After several months we were notified that the grant was not approved and try again next year.  Needless to say it seemed like a set back but with God it is always a setup!  While all of this is going on the church is allowing us to use their bus to take care of the school.  Thank you Jesus.

Now to the awesome news.  Not long after we got the news on the grant we were contacted by, "Wings of Eagles ministry, in Lakeland, Florida.  Don and Maria Elena Steiner have a dynamic ministry that reaches out to all walks of life.  The are involved not only locally but in Mexico, India and other areas of the world.  They told us that they had a donor who wanted to help out our ministry.

To make a long story short, after the donor's family prayed and sought the Lord they sent a message through Wings of Eagles.  The message was simply, the funds are on the way for the bus and for the solar needs.  Glory to God!  But that is not all, funds were also given for Shawn and I to have personal vehicle here in the islands.  Thank you Jesus.  I want to tell you that we do not even know the donors, they were moved upon by the Spirit of God to do this.  Glory to God!  His timing is perfect!  We also want to thank Winter Haven Worship Center, Pastors Jeff and Kim Connor, for raising funds for Shawn's ticket to the states and vehicle support as well.  We are so thankful!

Please rejoice with us today for these needs being met.  Thank you all so much for all of your prayers and support.  You are truly are partners in the ministry here in the islands.

Reaching Children for Christ!

We love children and so does Jesus!  Shawn and I have always had a heart to reach children on every level.  We have done this through, training churches, outreaches, through our children's ministry at our church here in Majuro, and Ajeltake Christian Academy.  We were blessed with an awesome gift from Family Worship Center, (now Summit Church), in DC!  Their gift allowed us to remodel and expand our children's facility! Praise the Lord.

A couple of weeks ago we were blessed to have a training team visit the Marshall Islands.  Shawn and I did not even know they were coming.  They were staying with Pastor Jun and Liezl Domingo here on the compound.  After meeting them, we knew that we needed to join with them for the training.

Theresa Llorent and Chona Alano are trainers with Children's Evangelism Fellowship.  Theresa has been a missionary working in Tonga for 22 years.  Chona is a missionary working in Samoa!  Both of these ladies are on fire for God and a heart to reach children.

For eight days, four churches came together for the training.  Marshallese, Filipinos, Tongan, Solomon islands and Americans all with a heart for children.  The training was intense, filled with practical exercises and homework every night.  Those that had the privilege to attend these classes were so excited they attended every session. It equipped these four churches to reach the families outside of the church by evangelizing our local neighborhoods and schools with the Gospel. Gave them all the tools and training needed to set up Good News Clubs in their area...

I love the timing of God!  This training came at the perfect time!  All of the teachers and workers came out of the training with renewed purpose and vision.  It gave them new tools, new ideas and a renewed passion for children.

We thank the Father for bringing these wonderful ladies to the Marshall Islands.  We certainly hope to see them again here in Majuro for future training opportunities.

There was one other amazing thing about this trip that I want to tell you about.  The Lord had spoken to my heart about going to Tonga several months before these ladies came.  I was in the process of making connections with ministries to meet while I was there.
Theresa's arrival here was not only for the children, but a divine connection for my trip into Tonga.  God knew who to send to help me make connections.  On top of that, she has arranged for me to have a place to stay and transportation to all the meetings while I am there.  Glory to God!

Shawn and I want to also thank Majuro Christian Church, Pastor Jun Domingo and his wife Liezl for providing housing and taking care of them while they were here.  It is so awesome to see the people of God working together in Unity!

We want to thank all of you for your faithful prayers and support for our ministry here in the Marshall Islands and the Pacific.  You are truly our partners in the Gospel.  Please pray for me as I travel to Fiji and Tonga.  I will leave on the 15 of November and will return on the 27 of November.

Busy Summer!

Good day from the islands.  It has been awhile since our last post so today we want to let you know what has been happening the last few weeks.  When Shawn and I returned from Nauru we both went into overdrive.  About a week after our return the Full Gospel general conference started.  What an awesome time in the Lord we had during that week.  A team from the First Pentecostal Assembly of God church in Ottumwa, Iowa came to be a part of the conference this year.  Pastor Richard Schlotter, Pastor Josolynn Gordon, Pastor Luke and Brother Daniel were the members of the team.

From the opening of the conference Pastor Richard delivered a great Word to the churches.  He also during that first service prayed for the president of the Marshall Islands.  Praise the Lord.  The rest of the week was packed with awesome teaching and preaching from the Word.
Pastor Josolynn and Pastor Luke also gave an awesome word to the people as well.  It is always a joy to be around men and women who are led by the Spirit!  I was blessed to minister along side these men and women of God.  As always, it is an honor to minister in the churches with Pastor Ronald Matthew and all of the leaders of the Full Gospel churches.

After that week the churches had a men's conference the next week and a leaders seminar the next week.  Needless to say it was a busy three weeks.  I love how that through out the different teaching and preaching that the Holy Spirit always blends it together.  It is something that never gets old and never ceases to amaze me.  Certainly in the conferences there has been an emphasis on the last days.  Even in Nauru there was an urgency for the body of Christ to bring in the harvest and stand up for and righteousness.  I believe that the Spirit of God is pushing for the church to get into the harvest fields like never before.

The week of the leadership seminar we had our summer camp/VBS!  This year the theme was, "Camp Discovery"!  It was a journey through some of the great stories in the Bible encouraging the kids to be all they can be in God!  Again this year we had over 200 children come and attend the VBS.  Every night they received the Word of God and had a meal before they went home.  Glory to God.  We thank God for all of our supporters and those who help in so many ways.

Again this year we had plenty of volunteers, teachers and leaders from the church.  We also joined with Pastor Jiuta from the Christian Missionary Fellowship church this year.  Pastor Jiuta and his team were a great blessing as they ministered to the children.  Of course a special thank you to our children's ministry coordinator, Sister Lavini, who with the team helped pull it all together.  It was her first VBS and trust me she did an awesome job.  Of course Brother Apo and his amazing art work and so many others that we could never thank enough.

We give God all the glory and all the honor for what He is doing here in the Pacific.  Shawn and I are humbled and so blessed to be a part of lives being changed.  However, we could never do it without all of you who faithfully support and pray for us.  So we send a big thank you to all of you who even though you are not here are part of building the Kingdom of God here in the Pacific.  So what can I say?  AWESOME summer, thank you Jesus!  God bless you and may you prosper in Him in all that you do and thank you for being our partners in the Gospel.

Conference in Nauru!

What an awesome time Shawn and I had in Nauru.  It certainly was a trip to remember!  New connections and a time of refreshing.  This post is little late but I wanted to give you all an update on this trip.  I was the first to go down on the 8th of June and Shawn came on the 12th.  We were so blessed to stay with Tim and Katherine Owens and their family.  It is so nice not to stay in a room somewhere and feel like you are home.  We had a great time together that is for sure.
The Assembly of God conference started on the 12 of June.  The theme for this conference was, "back to the first love"!  A theme that is certainly what the Spirit of God is saying to the church in these last day.  All of the messages were united together by the Spirit and the Word of God was powerfully delivered.

There were speakers from Fiji, Melbourne Australia and the US.  From Fiji was Pastor Maika, his wife Sue, and Pastor Joe Bolla.

From Melbourne, was Pastor Isa, a Cook Islander pastoring the Cook island community there.  Keith Wheeler from the US was also there, a man who is carrying the cross around the world.

All of these speakers anointed by the Spirit delivered the messages of the hour.

Shawn and I were so blessed to be under such teaching and were refreshed being there.  I can tell you this, the church is thriving in Nauru.  There is a lot of opposition by the enemy but the church is pushing through for the Kingdom of God.  The first night we were blessed with a word from the president of Nauru.  It was great to hear him stand up and declare the motto of the nation, " God's will  First"!  There is a lot of bad press coming against Nauru but I can tell you it is not true.  Nauru, is making a stand for God!

The Nauruans have opened their nation to refugees who are fleeing their countries.  Refugees from Somolia, Iran, Iraq and Sri Lanka to name a few.  They have made place for them while they are in transition.  The nation of Nauru is one of the smallest in the world but is moving forward at a great pace.

With the refugees there the Assembly of God Church in Nauru has opened their doors for them.  New converts, baptisms and Bible studies are happening in the camps.  Every Sunday two churches have refugees attending services.  Many even attended some of the conference meetings.  Praise the Lord!

Needless to say Shawn and I were so blessed and look forward to being back in Nauru soon.  We want to thank the superintendent of the AOG, Rev, David Aingimea, and all of the church leadership for opportunity to be there.  Shawn and I ask you to pray for the churches in Nauru, the government and the president.  Of course please pray for the refugees that they will come to know the Lord and that peace would reign in their hearts.

God bless and thank you for your faithful prayers and support.....

Storm In Majuro!

Good day from Majuro, Marshall Islands.  Last week was certainly a busy week.  Here on the compound with had Pastor Juita and his church for four days.  It was a time for the children to learn the Word, pray and have a great time.  It was awesome to see and be a part of what God is doing in Pastor Juita's church.  However, on Thursday the weather began to change and the winds begin to increase.  We have been going through some unusual weather this year and this is no exception.  You see, normally this time of year is our dry season.  This year though we have seen more rain and typhoons generated than ever before.

By Friday is was evident that this was not going to be just another rainy day.  The winds began to increase and the storm surge began to rise.  We received weather warnings and advisories early that morning.  The lagoon was in chaos.  In the 10 plus years we have lived here we have never seen it like this.  As I traveled to town that day I could see the fishing vessels moving in to the deeper water of the lagoon facing into the wind.  It was then that I knew it was bad.  I soon got a text telling me that the winds were gusting up to 40 knots.

Then another report that boats, big boats, and other vessels were slammed up against the shore.  I soon saw this myself.  Shawn and I began to pray for those involved.  Once again, houses were damaged, docks destroyed and localized flooding.

You see, when you live on an atoll there is no high ground and no where to go.  We thank God that even in the middle of everything that no lives were lost.  Praise the Lord, prayer always works.

The force of this wind was totally different from any we had seen before.  It came from a direction that is not normal.  Even in the middle of all of these back at the compound all was well.  No trees down, no damage and the church was praying and praising the Lord!  We were told to expect bad weather all weekend long but the next morning all was well!

God is so good and always in control.  Thank you for your prayers.  We love you all so much, have a blessed day in the name of Jesus.

Equipment Needs and Update!

Good day to you all from the island nation of Nauru. I wanted to take a moment today to update you on some current needs we have in the Marshall Islands. As some of you know the power situation in Majuro, Marshall Islands at times is on and off and expensive. Some years ago we placed in a solar system along with wind power as alternate energy sources. This of course reduced our dependency on the electric company providing savings that we could use for ministry purposes.

Over time in the pacific corrosion and rust can overcome even the best of equipment. Our main battery has failed and so has our wind generators. We lost our inverters as well. We are now believing God and moving to replace these key systems. Because we have partial battery supply left we are replacing our inverter first. This will cost us $2300.00 shipped into us here in the islands. This will allow us to have backup power in the event of power outages. This helps us preserve our food and keep us up and running no matter what happens. Shawn and I have stepped out by faith and placed the amount on credit. We know that God will supply this need as always.

The second major item we need to replace is our bus. This vehicle has been on the road for 7 years now and has been a huge assest to our ministry. It has faithfully took people to church, and kids to school and has never failed. Most buses here in the islands only last 3 to 4 years. We have been diligent with maintenance and it has lasted. However, now rust and corrosion is starting to wear on the bus with holes in the floor and other places. So it is time for a replacement. The next vehicle will be used for our main ministry as the school is now in the process of getting a grant for vehicles. We are believing God for the school vehicles and for our replacement vehicle for our ministry.

We are planning at this time to use "Go Fund Me", to raise support for the bus. If you use that route to help us it will be non tax deductible! You will also be able to give through Missionary Ventures as well and that would be a tax deductible gift. We will post more on the fund raising project once we are ready. Please pray about this with us and agree for the new vehicle.

If you would like to help out with either of these projects or just want more information please contact us at the email address below. Thank you all so much for your faithful prayers and support. God bless and have a great day.
